August Update from HFS
As usual, August has brought a good mix of sunshine, showers and thunderstorms…a typical British summer. This is historically one of the busiest months of the year for HFS and this year has been no exception, despite the current pandemic. Here’s a brief summary of what we’ve been working on over the last few weeks…
- The Orchards SEN School, Manchester – ‘Pearl’ from our Ultima pastels range was chosen for the wall finishes throughout this development, for a local Main Contractor. We’ve installed cladding to a wide range of areas such as hygiene rooms, kitchen, staff changing areas, accessible toilets and the hydrotherapy pool (where the walls went up to heights in excess of 3 metres). In the pool area, we also used access equipment across the pool (installed by our fully trained operatives) to allow us to reach the ceiling which also had our ‘Pearl’ cladding applied to it. The systems has been installed using our full coverage 6.5kg 2 part adhesive with colour matched trims and silicone. All works have been completed in good time for the start of the new school year in September
- A major upgrade of the kitchen area was in order at Tushingham Primary School, in Whitchurch where we’ve provided our 6mm thick Hygienic white PVC board to cover the existing brick walls, providing a new, robust and hygienic finish ready for the new school year. Our 6mm system still incorporates 2 part joints and trims with neoprene seal to prevent dirt and water ingress and is compliant with all current food regulations. Using our experience working with this product, our installer has folded all internal and external corners to provide a clean and tidy finish, where potentially angles would have been used instead. Minute finishing details such as this are the reason why HFS are chosen time and time again by clients old & new!
- St Aidans RC School Oldham, & St John Bosco School, Blackley – another 2 schools refurbished in the Manchester area by HFS over the Summer months on behalf of a client who we have worked incredibly closely with on numerous projects over the years. In both of these projects, we installed our ‘Aspen White’ system to toilet & changing areas to give them a clean feel in these times where hygiene is increasingly important. Our 2 Part joint strip system was used throughout with our HFS Ultima 2 Part adhesive to fully bond the sheets to the existing walls. As these rooms had walk in shower areas, we have created an overlap detail at the base of the sheets and sealed using our Food Safe silicone to ensure no mould will appear at the junction with the new vinyl flooring
- One of our larger projects over the Summer has been an extensive refurbishment at Manor Park School, in Knutsford. We were contacted to provide and install the following items: full removal of all existing kitchen services and replace with new, HFS Ultima ‘Aspen White’ PVC wall cladding to the kitchen and store room walls, new drainage connections throughout the kitchen to connect into the existing external drainage, new suspended ceiling system using Cleancare tiles to the kitchen area, new Tarkett Safetred vinyl flooring throughout including 100mm high coved skirting to all perimeter walls and finally to form 2 new apertures in the exiting roof to allow for new air intakes for the canopy that was being installed by the commercial kitchen supplier! Phew !! After all that there is just time to catch our breath as we finished in plenty of time for the new kitchen to be tested and commissioned prior to the new school year
